The Spirit of God Hovered Upon the Waters

Shabbat shalom and chag sameiach! Well it's the eve of Sukkot, and I'm in full retreat. Actually, my congregation is. We're off to our annual Sukkot Retreat in Possum Kingdom, Texas. There we will erect our sukkah, dine with the Ushpizin and, perhaps, possum royalty as well, and sleep beneath the stars. I'll also be teaching about some of the sodot, the mysteries of water (that's Possum Kingdom Lake in the picture). When I return, I will share some of what I know about the Ushpizin, the spirit guests we welcome on this most welcoming of fesitvals.
